KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS TRAINING

Phase I Knowledge Level: Sustainable Advantage©

The certification process begins with an e-learning course designed to create awareness and increased knowledge of sustainability. This unique interactive course brings sustainable development into clear focus by having the user step into the shoes of a manager at a virtual small business. The supplier company has been charged by its corporate client to become a sustainable enterprise and participate in the training session.

Sustainable Advantage© provides the business case for learning about sustainable development. By introducing the topic of environmental responsibility in a simple and engaging way, the message of sustainability can be conveyed to a wide range of sectors, functions and levels of management.

The training offers flexibility and can be completed through continuous or modular study. Upon successfully passing a post quiz, the participating company advances to the next level.

Phase II Skills Level: Seven Steps to Excellence in Sustainability©

A virtual hands-on workshop allows small businesses to develop competencies as they link sustainable development in theory with real-life business solutions. An easy-to-follow online process guides the company through a series of planning stages. Seven instructive steps provide technical assistance as users are engaged with a mix of activities such as conducting mini-audits; creating a company vision, establishing sustainable policies, as well as mapping strategies to operations.

Valuable data is collected through a proprietary Learning Management System as users input baseline information into a variety of online templates. This data is then aggregated into a comprehensive plan draft that is necessary to move the company forward in achieving sustainability. At a minimum, the customized plan will establish baselines and include details of the company’s impact reduction initiatives, actions that need to be taken, specific reduction goals, targets and timelines.

A printable plan draft can be downloaded upon completion.
